Welcome to The Sanctuary
United Pentecostal Church

Pastor Jonathan  &

           Kimberly Howe
Pastor Jonathan Howe was raised in a pastor’s home and felt a call to be a minister at a young age. He began his ministry as a teenager working with children. Relocating to Florida in 2005, he assumed the role of youth pastor and also assisted his pastor in various roles, until he returned to NH in 2014. Licensed as a UPCI minister in 2007, Pastor Howe continued to faithfully serve in Florida and then again at The Sanctuary in whatever capacity was required. He then stepped into the position of assistant pastor in 2018.

Kim Howe also was raised in a pastor’s home in NY and knew at a young age she would be involved in ministry. She also began her ministry by working with children as a teenager, playing piano during church services, and serving her community in various roles. While living internationally, she served wherever it was needed. In 2013, she became a licensed UPCI minister. Transitioning to an assistant pastor role in 2012, she served until 2020 when she relocated to NH and married Jonathan Howe.

On September 9, 2023, Pastor Jonathan Howe and his wife Kim were officially installed as pastor of The Sanctuary in Hudson, NH. They are very thankful for the rich heritage here and are excited for what God is doing for the church moving Forward Together.
Our History

The Sanctuary was founded in 1963 by Rev. Harvey Howe,
formerly known as The Hudson United Pentecostal Church.

Although the name was changed to The Sanctuary in 2012,
we remain an Apostolic Pentecostal Church
affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI)
Bishop David and Jane Howe

Bishop David Howe, along with his wife Jane have a heart for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ as this is the primary purpose to exist as a church. Since 1982, Rev. David and Mrs. Howe have made Hudson, New Hampshire their home, and have faithfully pastored at The Sanctuary.  Rev. David Howe was first licensed in Ministry in 1975 and Ordained as a minister in the UPCI in 1981.

Reaching out further into the local community, Rev. David Howe has considered it an honor and privilege to serve as the chaplain for the Hudson Police and Fire Departments since 1985. As such he has been in homes in times of distress and tragedy. Rev. David Howe does not take the privilege of ministering to the needs of the community lightly.

Rev. David Howe has served in pastoring here locally in Hudson, New Hampshire and as far north as Rumney, New Hampshire (where they also pastor another UPCI-affiliated church, Apostolic Lighthouse), they have followed the leading of God throughout their ministry. As they continue to let God bring The Sanctuary into the future, they have endeavored to keep the motto of the UPCI present in their efforts: the whole gospel, to the whole world, by the whole church.

With New Hampshire as their personal area of this world, they invite you to be a part of The Sanctuary today.
What We Believe
About the Bible
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)

About God
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man.  (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)

About Sin and Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
(See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)

About the Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (resurrection).
(See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)

About Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today.
(See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

About the Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)
